Yoga

Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one's being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union - the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one's actions. ~B.K.S. Iyengar, Astadala Yogamala

Join me in the practice of yoga. My classes focus on proper alignment and technique in each of the asanas(physical postures). I believe that in order to feel confident in a vinyassa (yoga flow) we must first feel confident in our static postures. In my teaching i give direct cues and physical assists to enhance your practice, allowing you to become confident in your yoga. Asanas work together to exercise every muscle nerve and gland in your body. Together they develop a body that is strong and flexible while helping to keep you free from disease. My main focus for all physical practice in yoga is to make a fit body, free of pain, for the spirit to reside.

Concentration on proper breath work during yoga is essential. I teach specific methods of breathing(pranayama) to assist in your yoga practice, strengthen your body and steady your mind. Prana, means breath of life, Ayama, means length, together Panayama means extension and control of the breath. Inhalation, exhalation and retention are the three aspect of pranayama that you can learn to gradually control with proper guidance.
